Why people pick quartz
Quartz is the most popular kitchen surface we install today. It's an engineered stone, about 90% crushed natural quartz mixed with resin and pigment. The result is a slab that's harder than granite, completely non-porous, and never needs sealing.
Because the pattern is engineered, you get a consistent look across every slab. You can walk into our showroom, point at a sample, and know your finished kitchen will look exactly like it. That's a real difference from natural stone, where every slab is one of a kind.
Quartz vs granite vs quartzite
The three most-asked-about kitchen surfaces, side by side. We fabricate all three in-house, so you can pick what fits your kitchen and budget.

Quartz countertop questions
-
Does quartz need to be sealed?
- No. Quartz is non-porous, so liquids can't soak in. You'll never need to seal it, ever. That's the single biggest care advantage over granite or marble.
-
How does quartz compare to granite?
- Quartz is harder, completely non-porous, and lower maintenance. Granite is 100% natural and has more visual variation. Both are 5-star surfaces. Quartz is the easier daily-living choice.
-
Can I put a hot pan on quartz?
- Use a trivet. Quartz handles heat well, but extreme temperature shock can damage the resin binders over time. A trivet or pad protects your warranty.
-
Is quartz stain-resistant?
- Yes. Wine, coffee, oil, and ink wipe off cleanly. Because the surface doesn't have pores, nothing soaks in. Daily cleaning is just soap and water.
-
What's it cost per square foot installed?
- Quartz runs from $50 to $120 per square foot installed, depending on brand and pattern. Calacatta-look quartz costs more than solid colors. We'll quote your exact kitchen at the free measure.
-
Is the warranty really lifetime?
- Cambria's residential warranty is lifetime when installed by an authorized fabricator. We are one. MSI is 10 years, Hanstone is 10 years, Topzstone is 25 years. The paperwork is in your install packet.
-
What's included in the price?
- Material, install, taxes, sink cutout, stainless steel sink, eased and beveled edges, and the free in-home measure. Removal of your old countertops costs extra. Plumbing reconnect is on your plumber.
-
Can I bring my own quartz slab?
- Yes, with a fabrication fee. Most customers prefer picking from our showroom because they can see and feel the exact piece. If you've already bought a slab elsewhere, we'll cut and install it.
